    Hey Akshay,

Sorry for being unclear. Actually, all the universities I am thinking is high ranked. So I just wanted you to list some universities in all the three category (SAFE, MODEST, AMBITIOUS). I am a highly research oriented guy and I can manage anything raning from arctic cold to texas heat to have a spotless profile in mu future!!! The only glitch is the expense. Now can you choose a few universities for me?

    Few more things:

    1) Can you list a few A- to A+ universities in US which accepts spring admits?
    2) Should I wait for Fall 2013? I am asking this because of two reasons: my GRE is low (so I want to improve) and also because the intake in Spring will be probably less.
    3) What do you think about my chances in:
    a) UIUC
    b) Columbia
    c) UPenns
    d) USC
    e) Univ. of Michigan-Ann Bor

I'vealways been completely honest with respect to unis

firstly i dont quite have a list of unis with spring admits....either u can do the hunting or u can try institutes like jamboree which'll charge u 23k and shortlist unis for u + write ur lor + sop + cheap courier

secondly, I can only give u my idea on wat are ur approx chances in unis...if u have enough knowledge to knw tht u selected Ambitious unis, u'd surely select others too there are too many unis....the prob is tht we indians know only a few...and since u are highly research oriented, u definitely have to read up on the unis in detail....go through their websites, see active research profiles, check for which depts are getting industry grants....cuz I surely cant do tht for u ..temme unis and i can list them as safe/mod/ambitious...cuz based on ur list, i can also suggest similar unis.

Case in point - i knw a guy from NIT-T with excellant gre and toefl and cgpa, but he's going to CSU-LA mainly cuz his subject has scope there.
    as for ur list :-

UIUC - it would be ambitious
Columbia - tough but u could try
U penn - u'd get it (its ivy league but not cream)
    USC - easily

I'd suggest u wait for fall. Increased intake + all courses availability + aid chance...nothing beats tht combo. if ur sure tht u can get more than 550 in verbal woithout reducing quant below 780, then i'd definitely ask u to give it again...it'll boost ur chances with UIUC etc.

look at ASU, OSU, U Minn, Ga Tech, U virginia, U Arizona, Northwestern, Rutgers, UFl etc....see if they hv research in ur field.
