    Ph.D in USA in VLSI

    This is my profile.

B.Tech in E&C in JNTUH 70% (no backlogs),
M.Tech in VLSI in IIT Roorkee (CGPA 7 out of 10 (upto 3rd Sem)) and I have published 6 IEEE papers in my M.Tech Thesis.
I have applied to the following universities(Fall 2012) but the response is not as I expected.
    University of Virginia------- Rejected
    University of Utah----------------Rejected
    University of Illinois,Chicago----Rejected
    University of Massachusetts, Amherst-------Rejected
    Virginia Tech-------(Under Review)
    University of Cincinnatti-------(Under Review)
University of California, San Diego-------(Under Review)
    Colorado State University -------(Under Review).

I heard that it is somewhat tough to get an admission for ph.d. Is it so? can you help me out what should I do now.
Is this list correct for my profile and if not please suggest me some univ for my profile.

Some rejects are really unexpected like uni of virginia, utah,UIC. But its really tough to get an admit for a phd, unless u have a stellar profile. Try to strengthen ur SOP & LOR.
    Check these universities:-
    - ASU( very good in VLSI research)
    -UMINN TC( excellent for analog)
    -NCSU(good in digital)
-UTD( overall good in VLSI, Dallas is hub of VLSI industries)
-Ohio state uni (good for analog)
-Oregon state uni (tough to get in, worth giving a shot coz of its excellent research in analog VLSI).
    -USC( Decent courses in VLSI)
