MS in VLSI in the US

    Hi,

I am planning to apply for my MS in VLSI for spring or fall 2013.

    My profile is as follows:
BE EEE, Coimbatore Institute of technology (2010) - CGPA 8.22/10
Work Experience - 2 yrs as of date at CTS - C/Unix technology
    GRE - 1250; Quants - 800; Verbal - 450 (2009)
    Toefl - 109 (2012)

I have shortlisted the following universities:
    Texas A & M University
    University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
    Arizona State University
    Oregon State University
    University of Massachusetts, Amherst
    University of Texas, Austin
    University of Colorado, Boulder
    Texas Tech Univversity

Please suggest my chances at the above universities.

And how good are the research facilities for vlsi in them? It would be great if you could also let me know the funding chances in the above.

Finally, is it better to opt for masters during the fall semester rather than spring?

    Thanks in advance,
    Varun

Hi. I had given my gre way back in nov 2009. I had scored 800 in the quantitative section. Do u recommend applying with this score or taking another shot at the gre?

    Thanks in advance,

You can go with that score itself. Since its valid for 5 years. Regarding the research in VLSI...
Texas A & M University--(good research in both analog & digital. Texas is the home for many VLSI industries)
University of Minnesota, Twin Cities--(excellent for analog)
Arizona State University--( comes under CE dept, very research in both analog & digital)
Oregon State University--( no 2nd word, temple for analog research)
University of Massachusetts, Amherst--( excellent for digital)
University of Texas, Austin--( brand name, location advantage, awesome for both)
University of Colorado, Boulder--( good courses in vlsi, not heard much about its vlsi research but good for embedded sys)
Texas Tech Univversity--(not heard much about its research, but no doubt location advantage)

    check:-
university of texas, dallas--( good research in vlsi)
ohio state university--( good for analog)
north carolina state uni---(awesome courses on digital)
uni of southern california--( decent courses on vlsi)
