Hi,
I just gave my GRE few days ago and got 160 in quant and 152 in Verbal. I am giving my TOEFL this month, expecting >100.
I have 1.7 yrs of work exp. in Analytics and want to do an MS in the same field.
My acads were decent with 66% aggregate from Pune university in Information Technology. Makes that 7.8 - 8 CGPA I guess.
I have a some extra curricular acitvities, sports, coding competition awards as well.
I am hoping to get strong to very strong recommendations from my Senior mangers and ones above them.
The universities I've shortlisted are :
Georgia Tech
NCSU
Northwestern
UT Austin
University of Michigan
Cincinnati
Univ of Southern California
Univ. of Connecticut
I want you to know what are the chances of getting into each of these universities considering my profile.
Do you think I should give another shot at the GRE?
On one hand, I do not want to compromise on the time I spend writing my applications while on the other I do not want to not be considered for a college at all.
Please help me here. Thanks in advance!
I am apply to analytics too and my profile is kinda same (gre 319 and MBA .. no workx in analytics though.. lots in sales but projects and subjects in MBA were based on analytics)
For you all i can say that most universities demand LOR from feculties (if they ask for 3 LOR than they want 2 from Faculties only .. Searched mailed and confirmed) so LOR from seniors alone wont help
Secondly MS in analytics is a damn costly course with negligible financial aid to plan according.
Third not all University courses are under STEM yet so apply to ones whose course is STEM approved.
lastly NCSU is by far the best followed by UTA and LSU.
USC while very good .. course under marshall b school is not under STEM.
Northwestern (mcormik engineering college) is really good but tough to get in with our GRE score and mediocre acads
we are sure to get in Cincinnati and Uconn and luckily both of them very well in budget. (28k and 25k)
but cincinnati begine in late aug. where as Uconn has a Jan/Feb. batch.
so I am targeting Uconn even if i can get in better university as i wont be able to afford them.
BTW University of michigan Dearborn has analytics course (NO STEM validity) and not ann arbour
ann arbour is flagship and awesome where dearborn is not so good.
anyway its good to find a fellow applicant cos most people go for MIS cos they doesnt know the difference between MIS and analytics yet..
regards
