Thank you very much.

UM- Dearborn - very good curriculum but not in STEM ( u are warned)
MSU - Good uni but bad curriculum
Daniels college (university of denver) -- RONDIKULUS costly ... 63k for whole course
UTD- awesome university, awesome curriculum but not in STEM ( u are warned)
i dunno about others uni's u listed.
whats ur GRE?/
Hi Kingnoob,
R u sure STEM matters so much? Even in case of a student graduating under a STEM program, you need to work for a company that is e-Verified. So, you are in the same boat as a person who is not eligible for STEM if your company is not e-verified. Still, it might be preferable to keep your options open.
My GRE is 311, TOEFL 109, have done my B.E. & MBA and have 3+ years of industry experience. I have been looking for MIS programs with concentrations in business analytics or a pure MS in BA. These are the ones i have shortlisted so far. Would really appreciate if you can help me sort it out further.
Bentley University - MS in Marketing Analytics
NYU - MS in Integrated Marketing Communication (good curriculum but its not stern so not too sure of the rankings)
Bowie State University - MS in MIS (3 different concentrations to choose from)
University of Texas Arlington - MS in infomation systems and operations management ( BA electives available)
Florida International University - MS in IS (safe)
George Washington University - MS in Information Systems Technology
NYU Stern - MS in Information Systems (dream)
Rutgers, New Jersey - Masters of Business and Science ( Analytics Concentration)
Univeristy of Connecticut - MS in BA and PM
I checked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute mentioned in the above post, but it doesn't have a spring intake. Pls suggest some more good programs with BA concentration.

We are in same boat.
I am too BE + MBA with almost 4 years of exp.
But I not looking for MS in MIS as there is a lot of difference between MS in BA and MS in MIS.
For one MS in BA deals with real data from companies (mostly IBM) whereas MS in MIS courses have no such privilege.
Second MS in MIS may have BA concentration but that doesnt completes actual BA course as no choices of electives is given. (when i say elective i mean elective like financial analytics, Marketing and so on.) most good universities have that.
not to say packages in MS in MIS is lot less compared to MS in BA. and why MS in BA with real data exp. are job ready.
Plus we will have VISA issues (read on to know why)
but than its your choice ( Cos MS in BA doesnt have financial aid) (a very few have)
For me its MS in BA (or stats) and nothing else really.
As far as stem is concerned .. As you can see that its been a long time since i did my engineering. All of my friends (close friend circle of 8) went to USA for MS immediately after engineering and now in their opinion STEM is must cos u never know how the job market turns. being in STEM course really puts us in safe position. (many consultants can help u in internship if can find a job and ur course is in STEM)
For spring intake there are a few good universities only
Uconn (last date 30th sept.), also economical, respected and known to and is in Connecticut - Lots of jobs
MSU
University of Denver - costly.
there are others but its important that we get into a good Uni cos with our profile we may face problems in VISA. (no BOWIE - heard for the first time. not ranked by forbes - how did u find it)
Lets face it that Visa is gonna be a trouble for us cos we will be resuming education after a long time and we already have a masters. MS in MIS is not completely related to what we have studied but all is forgiven if University is good.
i can see that u have chosen Marketing analytics so i am assuming ur MBA is in marketing. But i am sure that u know that marketing analytics jobs are really low paying.cough glassdoor cough (best for us, yeah mine MBA is in Marketing, to behave like we are going to do marketing analytics in SOPs and VISA than switch to financial analytics when in course.) for that we have to start studying financial basics from now on.
bentley Uni is good and with good curriculum and course is under STEM but private universities are costly with no or little funding. (bentley is 40k approx in tuition for MS IN BA)
I dont have much information about MS in MIS courses so i cant really comment about all other courses.
BUt frankly in my opinion u should look at MS in BA only.
Regards
Noob of NOOBS
Kingnoob
PS i am taking liberty to add u as a friend cos i think we may end up together in Uconn ( they are lenient in admissions)

Thx for the input, really helpful. How do u look for STEM accreditation apart from checking individual CIP program codes? Also, i looked for UTD - MS in BA it is a STEM program.
Hi KM123,
Sorry for responding a little late. I dont think the CIP codes are available on the university's website. If any program is STEM accredited, it is normally mentioned in the program description or in the FAQ section. If not then we can mail the universities asking them about this. UConn and MSU are STEM accredited. I also got to know after contacting IIT Chicago that the Data Science program there is also a STEM accredited one.
So have you applied for any universities now after finalizing your list? UNCC has one program on BA. You may want to check that once.
Thanks,
Vinay
