    Profile evaluation spring 2013 (major in power systems) URGENT

    Hi all, I'd really appreciate it if you guys could suggest my chances in the universities I am planning to apply in, or any other university that you think might be good according to my profile. Thanks

    Profile info:
    GRE (old) = 1430(790+640); AWA = 4.5
    TOEFL = 109
    BE GPA = 9.22/10 (Thapar University Patiala) (Top 5 in my department, scholarship holder and graduated with honors)
    MS GPA = 3.91/4 (University of Minnesota, Twin Cities) (currently pursuing)
    Applying for: PhD in power systems engineering
    Projects: 3 related projects and trainings in undergrad, 1 related project in grad (No research papers)
    Work experience: None

    Universities that I have short-listed:

    1) University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign
    2) georgia tech
    3) TAMU
    4) University of Wisconsin, Madison
    5) Virginia tech
    6) NCSU
    7) RPI
    8) Arizona state
    9) Iowa state

    Good profile. If u could manage publish a paper in a reputed conference, u can get an admit from any university.
    1) University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign---->ambi
    2) georgia tech---->mod
    3) TAMU----->mod
    4) University of Wisconsin, Madison----->ambi/mod
    5) Virginia tech------>ambi
    6) NCSU---->safe
    7) RPI----->safe
    8) Arizona state----->safe
    9) Iowa state ---->ambi/mod ( less intake)

    check these:
    -CMU
    -Cornell ( very tough to get in for phd, but worth a shot)
    -OSU
    -uni of washington @ seattle..

    Thanks a lot maximus199. I did look into your suggestions. Though the universities are really good and reputed, they don't have much going on wrt energy systems. and washington does not accept spring applications.

    I have added 2 more universities to this list:

    Purdue
    Washington state (a prof at my present university has told me that the power program here is pretty good)

    ur prof is right. Washington state university,Pullman is doing really good in PS.
