Thread: Help and suggesion's needed.......

Hello Guys,

This question may seem silly but i guess most of the people had this issue as well.

I am currently preparing for fall 2013.Currenly preparing for my GRE.

The issue is that my name on my passport,marklist's are a little different.

my 10&12 certie's say: surname U bhaskar
my engineering certie's say: Surname Uday Bhaskar dadname momname
my passport name has been misprinted as: Surname Udaya Bhaskar(i am currently correcting it).

I am worried whether this would cause me any issue when applying to GRE and further for any universities.

I should i go about it.I can't change my 10th,12th and engineering cerit's now.

I guess there might be some people in this form who have faced the same kind of issue.

Request the forum to please suggest me some solution's or recommundation's.

I'll give you a simple 'funda' regarding your query: Your passport is the ultimate document that the US govt presumes to be true. From now on you should always use whatever info is based on passport. As far as different names on marksheets are concerned, while applying to universities they always ask whether they might encounter documents with some other/ alternative names of yours, and so you can mention your marksheet names on them. Frankly, the best procedure is to officiate your passport name by taking out a name-changing advertisement in the newspaper (to quell all the fears of different names). So in future, you'll even have proof that you changed your name officially to the one on your passport and won't have to worry about your marksheets anymore. (In fact, this is exactly what I did too).
