    Please evaluate my profile

    Hi All,

Please evaluate my profile and suggest me in shortlisting the universities for fall 2014 , CS

    GRE: 325/340 - Verbal (158) , Quant (167) AWA - 3
    TOEFL : 110
B.tech: in Computer Science and Engg.
    CGPI : 8.1/10
    Work Experience : 3 years
    Research paper : No

Money is also a constraint for me.

I have shortlisted a few universities.

    University at Buffalo - SUNY
    North Carolina State University
    Arizona State University
    Texas A&M University
    Stoney Brook University
    University of Minnesota--Twin Cities
    University of Maryland--College Park
    University of Texas Austin
    university of southern california

Can you please help me out what more universities I should add/remove , and which one of the above is safe/mod/ambi ?

I am thinking of applying in not more than 6-7 universities.

Very good GRE profile. Only when sifting throu Graduate Admission applications of top 40 US Universities one would come across this kind of profile. If this profile is of someone from US, acceptance in MS CS from top ranked universities in US is sure to come by. It is a fact that Indian students (and to a large extent Chinese and Korean students) are treated more stringently by many of the Graduate Admission Committees of US Universities.

Except Cornell University which averaged 159 in GRE V and Columbia Univ which averaged 164 in GRE V, the average GRE score of other universities in GRE V as well as GRE Q is below your score. Please appreciate that we are talking about univ as a whole (for the year 2012).

If you apply the rule of thumb that avg GRE of 310-315 (for university as a whole) could be equated to 325 in GRE for computer science stream, your chances are very bright in the following universities: Purdue Univ (avg gre 154v+159q); Univ of Southern California (152v+160q); Texas A & M CS (154v+160q);Univ of California, San Diego (154 v+160 q); Univ of Minnesota Twin Cities (155v+163q); Univ of Washington (156v+159q); North Carolina Univ (155v+161q); Arizona State Univ (154v+162q); Iowa State Univ (152v+160q); Coloradao State Univ (153v+157q). & Univ of Cincinnati (155v + 159 q).
MIT (157v+162), Stanford (158v+163)and Carnegie Mellon (156v+161) are ambitious for your profile.
    Good luck.
