Its better to retake both GRE n toefl. Then there are good chances for admissions in good universities.

Please consider New Mexico State University, NPU (Fremont CA) and National University (CA). Improvement in TOEFL score would be beneficial since TOEFL benchmark score has to be met within the first semester. Good luck.

    Hi,

I am Sajeed Mohammad from Hyderabad. I am planning for admissions for MS in Computer Science in Spring 2014 in US.

Please evaluate my profile and let me know the universities that best suits my profile:

    GRE 289 (Q - 148 and V-141)
    Toefl 89 (R- 19, L- 19, S - 24, W-27)
    Btech - 70 %
Work Experience : 3+ years of experience in a software company on oracle database technology.

Will my job experience help me to admission?
Is my GRE score too low to apply for universities? Should I retake GRE?

    Please help me.

    Thanks,
    Sajeed.

Work experience is valued. Perusal of Cherukuri Ajay's brilliant and painstaking write up "profile evaluation for MS in US" available in msinus.com will make your perception clear. For your GRE score you stand fairly good chances of admission in (1) Colorada Univ Colorada Springs (required GRE score 148q which you obtained); (2) NPU, Fremont CA, (3) National University, CA (4) Wichita State University KS (5) Southern Methodist Univ (6) CSU Longbeach. As regards Wright State University, you may have your acdademic/ test score data evaluated by the University through the utility available in the univ website. This pre-evaluation of your suitability is FREE service by the Univ. Similarly, have a telcon with the education counsellor in Coloroda Tech University and have a clear notion about your chances of admission in that university.

148 in GRE q places you at 33 percentile. Unlike admission, financial aid is another kettle of fish. For GRE 289 (148 q which is 33 percentile) financial aid will prove to be a distant dream. GA/ TA assignments and financial aid rarely percolate to students with score less than GRE q 155+ (i.e. 61st percentile).Offers of GA/ TA are limited and rarely tail end scorers (ie students with GRE score of less than 60 percentile) are extended financial aid.

To sum up, if you have financial muscle to stay in US and pursue your studies without financial aid for nine months, low GRE score does not matter.

GRE scores above 300 with 155 in q will help you obtain acceptance from good universities; and prove to be economical.

    Qudhafiz.
