    Hi Tushar,

You have a fairly good GRE score, but TOEFL should have been better.
The thing is, they see your Speaking section score in TOEFL, if you don't have at least 26, you need to appear for another test at the university to be eligible for Teaching Assistantships etc.

There are various universities to which you can apply. Financial situation matters significantly. What's your budget for MS?
    Only approximate estimate is required. 10 lac / 20 lac / 30 lac / >30 lac ?

Please reply so that universities can be shortlisted.

    Ok.
    Sorry for the late reply.

Firstly you have to think if you want specialization in normal mechanical stream or material science stream. Because usually material science department is separate from Mechanical Department. So, you can get admission into better university if you apply for Material Science (that happened to a friend of mine).

We have to select the universities in 3 categories.
Ambitious – Where you have remote chances of admits, but we can try our luck.
Within Reach – Where you have moderate chances of admits.
Safe – Where you will definitely get admission.

Each application costs you around Rs. 5000. So we should limit the number of universities.
We can select 2 Ambitious, 4 Within Reach and 2 Safe universities. So, total 8 universities. (This is just to give an idea. You can apply for more/less, there is no limit.)

    For Ambitious:
    Michigan State University (MI) (34)
North Carolina State University (NC) (38)
    Michigan Technological University (MI) (44)
    For Within Reach:
    Clemson University (SC) (52)
    Northeastern University (MA) (58)
SUNY (State University of New York), Stony Brook (NY) (58)
    SUNY, Buffalo (NY) (62)
    University of Cincinnati (OH) (62)
    For Safe:
Illinois Institute of Technology (IL) (72)
    Oklahoma State University (OK) (81)
    Kansas State University (KS) (81)

States and ranks are written in brackets. Ranks differ largely by evaluating agency. But you can get relative standing of universities.
I selected these universities for you strictly keeping your budget in mind. You can apply to universities with slightly higher rank if you find them affordable.

Feel free to ask any queries.

I think these two universities are neither reputed nor recognised.
For Material Science, you can apply to slightly higher univetsities than I have suggested. You can try University of Florida also (UFL).
I'll look up and tell which universities are good for Material Science.
