    Please look into my Profile

Its a curious case of Shifting from Mechanical Bachelors to Computer Science Masters.
I have worked in an IT company as a software developer in high end projects and was a good coder during college days and school also.
What are my chances of Getting MS in CS and what schools should I be targeting.
    Please help me.

    Regards
    Ankan

    very nice GRE score man
when are you planning to attend for MS? fall or spring?
deadlines are completed for many of the universities so better apply for spring 2013
and shifting to CS from mech you should have to do extra credit hours i.e., some prerequisites
and the admission process would be same for nearly all univs and with your score you can get into a very good univs
    all the best

    Thanks Kruthartha.
By extra credit hours do you mean before joining should I be able to go for certain external certifications from India or certain courses there in the universities itself?
Please help me understand. I hope the universities don't trash my application just looking at my mechanical engineering transcripts or resume.

Education in US will be as follows:
For completion of Masters in Computers you should have to complete 32-36 credit hours.
One subject(eg: Operation Reaserch in your branch)=3 credit hours. So you should have to complete 12 subjects means 36 credit hours.
So as you are from a non cs back ground you should have to complete more than 36 credit hours nearly upto 39-42 credit hours.
That is you should have to study one extra semester than a CS guy which covers three to four subjects.
Eventhough you take any certifications in India the respective US university would give you prerequisites i.e CS basic subjects like programming in c, finite automata, Operating systems etc., because u r from Mech and this is not a very big issue while applying for MS in CS.
Don't worry about this and you would get into a very good university.
All the best and sorry for the late reply.

they wont trash your application until unless if you apply for a ambitious college , for your profile if you go for masters in meachanical engineering you get admission in most of the colleges .

since you are changing your background , you have to do some extra cource work in USA ( not in india ) , some certifications which you have finished in india will be helpful for the application process !!!

since you have all the gre and toefl scores with you , better start your application process ASAP !!

some of the colleges admission dates going to be close for this fall 2012 by end of this month !!! you got rush your application if your applying for fall 2012 dude.....

Good Luck for your Application and All the Best
