    thanks pHacidic for ur eval.
actually i put so many safes together coz first i need to secure my chance. unlike others who apply with workex, i resigned my job for prep as honestly software industry is not my cake,so i don't wanna waste an year at any cost. besides,a few safes are from my 1st consideration, like Kansas State,Oklahoma.. now i am not even planning to apply at kansas. next thing, i dug into colleges with good vlsi programs and found Oregon State,Portland State are good for my consideration. and to be honest, without funding i might get into trouble,so i considered a few safes where i will have good chances(considering my profile) of funding to be in the safe side.
i will apply to 3- safe, 2 mod, and 2 ambi..
and i will really appreciate if u modify my list and add some gettable mod and gettable ambi to the list that offers good vlsi/embedded. now please tell me what to do.
    thanks again.

Well, thats such an honest consideration. Good thinking, well it wont hurt removing some safe and adding a few ambi, but if you are lean towards getting funds, its better to go ahead with this list. You can get into some of the good names but then funding scenario will be out of the picture. So what do you wish?

@ pHacidic thanks for supporting me.
    well, after what u said,

    1.Kansas State University - safe --------------------------won't apply
    2.Texas A&M University College Station - V.ambi------------tell me,should i ?
3.University of Florida - mod/amb--------------- ----------surely will apply here
4.University of Oklahoma - safe ---------------------------not considering now
5.University of Oregon - safe -----------------------------will apply for funding
6.University of Utah - mod --------------------------------tell me
7.Oklahoma State University- Stillwater - safe -------------will apply
8.Portland State University - no idea ----------------------surely will, vlsi is good and so is my chance of funding
9.Oregon State University - safe --------------------------surely will,vlsi/embedded is good and my chances of funding as well

now please suggest me what would be the best. besides please suggest me 2-3 mod and 2 ambi(gettable) universities to consider.. if i somehow manage to get into an ambi or a good mod then i will think of something else and will trade off funding with univ's rep (though it will be quite hard for me) ...

    University of Florida - mod/amb
    University of Oregon - safe
    University of Utah - mod
Oklahoma State University- Stillwater - safe
Portland State University - go ahead
    Oregon State University - safe
    Arizona State University - mod

    Michigan Technological University - mod/safe
University of Texas, Dallas - mod/safe
