    Hi
You have quite a chance in ASU (moderate).
The other 3 which you filled would be safe. But publishing a paper in international journal will change the scenario entirely-
ASU will be safe and you can aim for some good universities like GaTech.
First, decide how many universities you want to apply to.
Then publish some universities here. I will do my best to give appropriate reply about your published universities.

    Hi Shalin,

Can you please help me regarding choosing some universities for my profile.

    10th and 12th: 88%
    Btech C.S. with Gpa : 7.8

Internship in US for 2 months
2 very good publications (tier 1) , one as first author and one as third author
Recommendations: Good recommendations from well known professors
1 year work ex in a good product company

    GRE : 318 , 163 Quant, 155 verbal, AWA 4.5
    TOEFL: 110

Should I try for any of the A+ universities for MS admission or I won't be able to get any because of my low GPA and average GRE scores ? How much role do publications and recommendation letters play in getting admission ?

I have gone through a lot of profile posts but couldn't find anyone matching mine. Can some1 please guide me through regarding which type of universities I should apply for ?

    Thanks

Any international journal in english would do the job. Funding seems to be difficult but there is no harm in trying.

    Hi
Which field do you want to go for?
You have a pretty decent profile. Your internship would help a lot. If you did project under some prof out there, try and get a LOR from him/her.
Are these publications in international journal? Else, they would not count much.
    Your GRE is quite good.
Academics are average but work-ex would make up for it. Is your work-ex relevant to your intended major?
A+ doesn't seem to be well within reach but you may apply to 1-2 universities in the list.
Write down some universities over here and we ll see what omissions and additions are required.
Personal advise: A+ - You can try for CMU.
Recommendations and publications(international) matter a lot.
    Cheers

    Hi Shalin,

Thanks a lot for you reply.

I plan to do my Masters in Computer Vision. I did my internship and Btech thesis in this domain only.

The professor under whom I worked is a Phd from CMU and currently working in some other university. She can write me a very good LOR. Also, I have 2 more good LOR from professors Phd holders from US but currently working in India.

Both papers I published are in International Journals. They come under top 5 conferences in this Vision Field.

In my currently job, I am not working on vision and I am just doing the normal software development. I don know will that help or not.

Following are the universities I planned to apply:

    1) CMU
    2) University of California-Berkeley
    3) Cornell University
    4) University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign
    5) University of Texas-Austin
    6) Georgia Institute of Technology

I know these 6 are very ambitious but I still want to give a shot. What do you suggest ?

    7) University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
    8) University of Maryland-College Park
    9) Brown University
    10) University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
    11) Johns Hopkins University
    12) Virginia Tech

Please let me know what do you think. Should I apply for more universities or omit some from this list.

    Thanks.

    Hi again
I think UCB,UT-Austin and UIUC are very difficult to get in. You can try for other three among first six. Your list seem to have only dream and safe universities. You should include some moderate universities - OSU, NCSU, USC and search for a few more.
