    Fall 2013 | MS | EE(control systems) | GRE=311 | TOEFL=100 | UG=6.94 | BITS Pilani

    -> I have recently graduated in Electronics and Instrumentation branch from BITS pilani, pilani campus. My undergraduate CGPA is 6.94/10 . I am plannning to apply for Fall 2013 and will be working in Infosys R&D in a research based profile till then. My CGPA for last 2 years is 7.94/10.
    Topper :-10/10

    -> GRE Revised Scores :- 311/340 , Quant - 160, Verbal - 151 , AWA - 4.
    TOEFL :- 100/120.

    -> I plan to apply for Electrical Engineering with specialization in Control Systems.
    The following is a list of universities that I am considering:

    -> Projects done :-
    1. Hardware Implementation of Recognition of Arrhythmia using PSOC , Simulink and LabView in APOGEE(BITS techfest) in 1st year and was awarded 2nd prize in the Signal Processing section.
    2. Did other miniprojects as a part of various courses:-
    a. Amplitude Modulation and Demodulation using Code Composer Studio.
    b. Simulation of PLC Applications on Simulink and LabView.
    c. Implementation and Interfacing of a pH sensor using Cypress PSoC.
    d. Simulation of Digital Filters using LabView.
    3. A Lab Oriented Project on 'Neuro Fuzzy Application in Modelling and Control' in which I designed a mamdani and sugeno fuzzy and neurofuzzy controllers to control the speed of the DC motor at required setpoint and compared the results, also designed PID and fuzzy controllers for pH neutralisation process.

    -> Internships :-
    1. Summer Internship in the energy unit at 'GRASIM Industries Nagda' where I studied 'Instrumentation and Control for energy centres' which included knowledge about PLC, DCS systems etc.
    2. 6 mnths internship in JDA software solutions, a supply chain management company (this is not relevant to control systems though)

    No papers published.

    -> Work exp :- I will be working in Infosys R&D as Level 4 ,Technology Analyst starting in august 2012. - work there wont be much relevant though.

    I request you to evaluate my list of universities and provide me suggestions regarding the same and thus help me through the application process.

    Well ur last 2 yrs cgpa is good. and tht will help u as compared to the overall 6.9.


    1. North Carolina State University(NCSU) - a little tough

    2. Georgia Institute of Technology - tough

    3. University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign(UIUC) - very tough

    4. Ohio State University(OSU) - moderate chances

    5. Auburn University, Alabama - gettable

    6. Arizona State University(ASU) - gettable

    7. University of Southern California(USC) - gettable

    8. University of Texas Arlington - very very safe. u can rather try UT Dallas or some higher univ for tht case

    9. University of Florida - gettable

    10. University of California, Santa Barbara - tough

    11. Drexel University - safe

    12. Clemson university - very safe

    13. University of Oklahoma - safe
