yes...in ur sop mention only abt EE dept...most unis will ask u to fill a preference form before admission. In tht u can mention ur particular choice.....once u land there, u can choose ur subjects
I want to apply for Energy and Power Systems course in a US university. So, in the SOP, should I mention this ?
My consultant told me that I only have to mention that I want admission in electrical engineering department and that I will have to select the course of study after six months. For the first six months, everyone in electrical studies the same.
Please help me with this, I will have to apply online within this week.

But, then how will they know that I want to pursue Power and Energy Systems ? There might be many applicants in the EE department. My chances of getting in might be less.
Also the California State University has stopped their spring intake, so that's bad too.
That's wat I've told. If there is a preference form, then don't mention in sop....else do it. But remember, if u put it in ur sop, u need to show some previous exposure to ur field....
And yes spring admits are lesser. Why aren u considering fall?
I have worked enough in that field. I think I will mention something about it int he SOP.
by all means! the more precise ur sop, the better ur aid chances in terms of RA...

One last thing. Should I mention that I've played football and hockey and won tournaments in college ? Also won a national level award in drawing when I was a kid, should I mention this ?
yes. just a small para...add it in a way tht shows u can add value to the uni in terms of sports too (adds a lotta value, cuz univs like harvard, mit etc will lap up students who are good in sports too)
