    I have shortlisted 4 univs,

    UTD,

the green card should make it a lil easier for u....as for the unis u've suggested, All are within reach actually...

In texas, well u can look into UTA maybe....UNT is supposed to be coming nup, but am not sure of how good it is.

In california u can consider UC riverside, USC, UC davis, CSU-LA etc...

for power systems i've heard tht WSU is doing very very well....as for embedded u cant beat NCSU...for VLSI its oregon state and U mass amherst....

Arlington is vary common among people here in India. Don't really wanna go there.

How is USC ? It's a private univ. How is the fees structure ? Plus living expenses in LA ?

What about NCSU ? Is it within my profile ?

My main aim is San Diego State or UTD. Just to be safe, I'll apply to other places as well.

USC is a good uni, but quite expensive...LA too would be a little costly. NCSU is ambitious for ur profile....

Actually UTD is more common than UTA among indians. every indian with a aobve avg profile looks ate UTD. Anyways, both SDSU and UTD are gettable for u

Living expenses are more everywhere in California. Can these expenses be covered by doing part time job or something ?

Yes that's the idea....Chicago costs around 600 dollars a month. That's the 3rd biggest city in USA. So even in California u should be able to manage
