MSc Mechatronics from Lancaster or Ravensburg?

Hi, I want to go for masters in Mechatronics for fall 2012. I had applied to universities in Germany and UK, and presently got a call from the following:

    1. Lancaster University, UK - MSc Mechatronics Systems Engineering, 2012.
    2. HS Ravensburg - Weingarten, Germany - MSc Mechatronics, 2012.

It would really help if someone can give some insights on these Universities. What factors should I consider for selecting the Universities? For me, getting a good job profile in this field is very crucial, and as Germany seems more strong in Robotics and Mechatronics industries than UK, should I go for Germany? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Germany is doing EXCELLENT for engineering...yes, Europe is going through a tough time, but the overall advantage Germany gives is unmatched...not to mention its very cost effective while UK is expensive....also, new visa rules for UK won't allow u to work after graduation....u've to return asap to India....i.e there is no extension of student visa like USA or Canada etc....

I'd suggest u definitely try Germany....look at factors such as job market, visa extension, cost, involvement in industry, projects etc....

Thanks Akshay for the reply!.. However when you say "factors such as job market, involvement in industry, projects", how exactly is it different from UK? I am asking this because Lancaster University ranks under top 10 in UK whereas HS Ravensburg Weingarten does not seem to have such a good ranking. But also if UK isnt as well as Germany in terms of Mechatronics opportunities, then ranking wouldnt matter, would it?..

Here's an example - in the USA, Oregon state ranks low while its undoubtedly the best for analog vlsi course....Missouri univ of s & t had record placements last year....so rankings aren all....and while I'm not too sure about mechatronics jobs, I suggest u look up at job market in Germany and UK....yes Lancaster ranks high, but is it specifically for ur stream??.....Yale uni is ranked high overall, its not the same rank for electrical engineering....

Also if there are education fairs, I suggest u meet ppl to find job opportunities for international applicants in UK...far as I know, its getting tough...but pls do check up with multiple sources too. Cheers!
