    Spring/Fall 2013 | MS - VLSI/SP | GRE - 318 (Q:160 V:158) | TOEFL : 116 | CGPA: 7.73

    Hello,
    I am gonna apply for MS in Signal Processing/VLSI in Spring/Fall 2013.
    With special interest in DSP,Image processing,Speech processing.
    As you can see there are a lot of variables.

    My profile is as follows :
    GRE - 318 (Q:160 V:158 AWA : 4.5)
    TOEFL - 116 ( R:29 L:30 S:27 W:30 )
    Undergrad College: Amrita School of Engineering,Bangalore
    Course : Electronics and Communication
    CGPA : 7.73 / 10

    Maybe an internship at BOSCH or IISC in the next few months.

    Projects : Made a digital clock using microprocessor, more underway.

    Major proj : 2D DCT using CORDIC Processor - basically a DSP and VLSI proj.

    Papers : No papers

    Work ex: Will have 6 months - 12 months worth of work experience at a VLSI based company at time of joining ( depending on spring / fall )

    For Spring 2013 :
    Virginia Tech
    (Any more options?)

    For Fall 2013 :
    1) UCSD
    2) UCSB
    3) UMNTC
    4) USC
    5) GaTech
    6) UCLA
    7) UIUC
    8) Rutgers
    9) RIT
    10) ASU
    11) Clemson
    12) UTD

    This is my initial list.I hope there is a good mix of safes and ambi's in that list and I can trim it down before I apply.

    first of all THANK YOU for such a detailed profile.

    Secondly, ur profile is very good so unis are within reach.

    Thirdly, my advice is to take up FALL session. u'll have more work experience plus ur admit chances are wide open for Fall than spring.

    As for ur chances :-

    1) UCSD - Moderate (but i suggest u spply. u stand decent chances)
    2) UCSB - Moderate (same as above)
    3) UMNTC - Moderate
    4) USC - good chacnes (but it may be expensive as its a private institue)
    5) GaTech - Moderate (do apply. I say moderate cuz its not a sure admit, but strong favour)
    6) UCLA - ambitious
    7) UIUC - ambitious
    8) Rutgers - mod
    9) RIT - safe
    10) ASU - safe
    11) Clemson - safe
    12) UTD - very safe

    Could you tell me any other colleges that are good for my profile and good for signal processing and/or vlsi?

    Try Oregon state and u mass Amherst....excellent for analog and digital vlsi...u could try Ohio state, ufl, u Virginia too

    My chances of getting in these Universities would be good/safe? and u mean University of Virginia and not Virginia Tech? Any other universities for Signal processing?

    Actually ur chances would be decent in both....and yes, u Virginia and not Virginia tech....I'm sorry but I'm not sure about signal processing.
