I want to go into vlsi or embedded systems... Can u suggest which all universities i should apply to and which ones are safe for me?
There are many. Ncsu is the best in embedded...for vlsi look at Oregon state and u mass Amherst....shortlist some unis by looking at their websites and research...then its easier to do evaluation.
