I am pretty sure i replied to this thread!! I guess it dint get saved....

Firstly, ur profile seems fine enough. ur acads "may" pull u down (because UT system of colleges sometimes tend to prefer the ug scores over gre marks. this isnt official, but the trend suggests so). I hope ur 3 backlogs will be cleared at time of application. BUT having said that, i have seen a reject from UTA for a 1130 gre and 7.1 cgpa too......btw, check their website. They had put up a "minimum quant score" in the electrical engineering dept....am not sure how mucht hey would adhere to it, but just confirm if ur quant is atleast close to tht score.
Also, try to get very good LORs and write a precise and thoughful SOP. (do NOT copy from websites. use them for reference. Try to include the motto/purpose statement of UTA in ur sop)

Secondly, dont use "Sir". Look at my profile and u'll know am ur batch only. Waiting for my 8th sem results.

Na..ajay is the only Admin here. I haven seen any Mods...

Anyway, ur quant score is very good...i'd suggest u still apply to UTA and see....maybe u can try to find out the profiles of ppl who got admitted recently and check ur chances.

am abhilash , gre 298 ( v--146 ,q-152 )/awa-3 , toefl 88 , BE -58 %(3 back logs -cleared, one not related to my branch)2011 passout , 12-68% , 10 -65% - applied for ut arlington ... done about 2 paper presentations n 1 miniproject with 2 projects in my BE , also was football n basketball captain of my college for all the four years .. wat are my chances for ut arlington ...

Chances would be moderate. Its the same scenario as the one mentioned above....but ur academics may pull u down here...but u could still try. Ur lor and sop may prove crucial.
