I heard some rumours that visas were not being given for admissions to universities in Texas to curb the rising Asian population..is there any truth in this?

well nothing of that sort so far. Quite a few ppl apply to texas univs and get visas regularly. But the crunch arrives due to administrative reasons. Sometimes they just tighten the noose overall in study visas...but nothing is on the horizon for a long time now.

@maximus - i would feel tht for his profile, along with the work experience he gains (which MAY give very strong lors as well), U Wisc may not be very ambitious. No? I will be tough yes, but higher end on Mod i guess.....Also, isnt TAMU being extremely selective?? what with all IIT, NIT, BITS ppl getting admits galore.

@ akshay- ur right, UWISC is a kind of mod & PS group is one of the best, selects ppl with a very good profile. So, i rated it as ambi since his area of interest is PS.
I suggested TAMU coz it is one of the best in country for its research in PS, though very hard to crack. But u never know......
