pls note tht PhD admits are not as easy as MS. because it depends on availability of profs in ur line of research and openings with them as PhD is usually funded. Among ur lot i'd say the following -

    UCB - moderate
    Rolla - good chances
U Minn - moderate to ambitious
    IIT - safe
NCSU - very ambitious (they are getting highly competitive)
    OSU - mod
    ASU - safe to mod
Iowa - safe to mod (but good chances)
    Penn state - ambitious
    NEU - within reach
MTU - am not sure, so pls check wioth someone else
    UTK - gettable

I am particularly looking to work on Electrical Machines and Drives.WSU is working on Power Systems.I had heard NEU had some good work going on.Any other Universities that you can suggest..?
And since I have worked on Electric Drives then can I switch over to PE applications in Power Systems for my Phd?
