Applying CPT when in CONTINUING REGISTRATION

My university's international relations say that I cannot apply CPT while on continuing registration because the US immigration will suspect that I have come here only to work and not to study. But it will be a good technical experience for me. I'm also ready for registering extra courses.
Can anyone please give me a solution to convince my international relations officer for letting me apply CPT.

When you have a job offer in hand, usually they don't oppose.

Based on changing immigration rules, it's better to avoid taking CPT.
