How is cost of living in Newyork?

Hi friends,
Good day! I am newbie to this site. I have a different situation which i stated below.
My company offered me an onsite assignment for about 18 months at Newyork . i have offered 55000$ per annum with no more additional benefits provided.As I have never been to USA, i am unaware of living expenses there. From my initial research in internet, I understood Newyork is most expensive city. I want you people to share me the basic living costs in this place in terms of rent, food, traveling, internet, movies, postpaid mobile bill etc. I am un married.So i dont mind to share an apartment with others. Can i save some money with this offer? Please suggest me whether can i accept this offer or not? Thanks in advance.
