You should aim to take GRE and TOEFL as soon as possible as well as obtain a good score. It is not too late, but application submission would start very soon; so try to sit for GRE and TOEFL before November. Also, start researching universities, apply for transcripts and contact profs for recommendation letters.

would u suggest that i get a counselor or do it by myself?
to be straight, does having a counselor make a difference?

hey you should plan to take your gre and toefl because this scores plays a vital role in your career .so be planned and confident to take exam and then plan for universities..
best of luck

Do it yourself. Don't go to counselors and waste money. And keep in mind that if the university or the visa officer finds/suspects that you went to a counselor, they would be very reluctant to accept you.
