Hey,
The way u are askin, looks lik u r goin to MS just for the sake of enjoyin USA..
Dude u gotta know wat "U" like.. if u dnt hav that interest, thn surviving will become tough in USA..
Sit down and think which u understand better, which goes into ur head well.. choose that subject and put it here... u can proceed from there.. :)
Best of luck!!
Selecting interested Domain is at times difficult, put your self in both roles and then decide.
job for a VLSI Engineer involves,
chip designing(for which one should be gud with all the chemical combinations for fabrication)
Verilog Coding/ VHDL coding in Circuit simulation(for which being good with each and every component involved in the circuit helps a lot)
working for Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) needs good understanding of circuit layout like the FPGA
In short, if you are good with analyzing circuits and the components involved and if you find it more interesting and love to explore it more when compared to others domains go for VLSI.
To be a DSP programmer
one should be very gud with Advance engineering Mathematics
and being good at complex programming fetches
DSP is mostly used in communications n embedded processors(OMAP)
Finally if you enjoy complex Mathematics and Programming, go for DSP.
couldn be any more clearer than tht :)
anyway aravinth, its also not just the course...yes VLSI and DSP are most common and widespread, but u have loads of other options like optiocs, photonics, micreowave, antenna designing, THz study etc....there are no good courses. Its only about how good u are in wat u choose :) i have seen many personal examples of ppl do vague subjects and being comfortably placed cuz there are very few ppl in tht stream and well they are at the top!
so llok at ur other options. even if u go to the US for the sake of it, make sure u do well. thats important. thats wat matters.
I agree with akshay and shareeni... Decide on ur interest basically... dnt go wid the trend.. :)
thanks for the advice guys.
