How to become Pharmacist in USA? - Guide to International Students with B.Pharmacy Degree

For international students who've done their bachelors in pharmacy program in countries other than the U.S., becoming a registered pharmacist requires that they first take the FPGEE (Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination) followed by the NAPLEX (North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination).

International students who have graduated with a 4 year B. Pharmacy degree before Jan 2003 are eligible to register for taking the FPGEE and TSE tests. Those who have graduated AFTER Jan 2003 require a 5 year B.Pharmacy degree to be eligible to register for the FPGEE. This change was made to keep the standards of foreign pharmacists on par with U.S. standards. And NO, there is no way around this. If you graduated after Jan 2003 with a 4 year B. Pharmacy degree, you are, unfortunately, not eligible to register for the FPGEE. You will have to take the PharmD course if you want to become a pharmacist in U.S.A. or have a 5 year B. Pharmacy degree. You can't make up 5 years with 2 years of your masters either. Period.

what is the duration of PharmD in USAafter the Bpharm completed in india?

3 - 6 years. Since you already completed some courses in B.pharmacy level, Some of the courses in PharmD will be waived.

Do i need to take FPGEE &TSE tests after Pharm.D.?

you will be eligible to give NAPLEX and law exam to get licence. (no need to give FPGEE and TSE)

Is it worth to study PharmD in USA?

Itz your wish. It may take 3-6 years and later you need to take certification exams too. It needs time, money and efftort. Though you go through all this pain, US Pharmacy companies like CVS, Walgreens will give preference to US Citizens and Greencard Holders in Jobs.

Then What is MS in Pharmacy and Phd in Pharmacy?...How they are useful?

Both of these are different from PharmD. These are regular degrees. You can't become a pharmacist with these degrees. But you can get into industry jobs with these degrees.
