How to check my admission status for MS in US?

By this time Fall 2011 students should have completed applying to Universities and eagerly waiting for admission decisions. This article intended for those would like to know procedure to verify admission status.

How can I check whether my university has received my application materials or not?

Allow 15 days after posting the documents. While applying to a university through web you might have created an online account with the school. Most of the schools will allow you to check admissions decision by logging into the online account. Your university account will list all application materials (including transcripts and test scores) and the submission status of the same.

 

What is Student ID Number?

When you apply to a US university, you will get a Student ID number. University will issue these numbers to uniquely identifying the students. When you communicate with the university during the admission process have this number for the quick answer to your questions.

Some universities will let you create an E-mail account with their extension.

 

I have sent all necessary documents to university. But the online account is showing that they haven’t received some of the documents. What should I do at this point?

Contact the university immediately by Phone or Email. This kind of situation happens because of manual mistakes in updating the status of a receive document. University staffs will double check your documents once you report to them and update status accordingly.

 

University has not received my GRE or TOEFL scores.

It may take around 2 weeks for the submission of scores to universities by ETS after your request. If the university hasn’t received even after one month of score submissions contact ETS.

My University doesn’t have online admission status tracking system. How will I come to know about the status?

Send follow up emails to university for each 15 days to be in sync.
