I have lived in Syracuse for over two decades, unaffected by asthma or allergies despite the cold weather and snow; the air and water are very clean. By contrast, I used to suffer allergy attacks when I lived in a city in India, due to pollution. Dress warm, and enjoy the snow when it comes; perhaps try skiing--that's less expensive in Syracuse than in most other places.
