• Convert Percentage to GPA for US Universities

    International students applying to US Universities usually confuse different methods of converting their percentage scale into GPA. Percentage is Popular method in India. Few schools in India will use CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) System of academic evaluation. Let me give you a simple formula to convert Percentage into GPA.

    Convert Percentage to GPA - Method 1 (India)

    Calculating GPA from percentage is very simple. US GPA is 4 point scale. Indian percentage is for 100% which is nothing but 100 points. So, 25 points in percentage is equivalent to 1 point in GPA System.

    Percentage to GPA formula: Just divide your percentage by 100 and multiply by 4. If your percentage is 75, then (75/100)*4 = 3.

    Percentage to GPA Conversion- Method 2 (Some Other countries)

    Some other countries will follow the way where a particular range of percentage is dedicated to particular GPA point.

    Which is correct method of percentage to GPA Conversion?

    Even though these are the general ways to calculate, they are not official. These formulas are just for a rough estimate. Each US University has its own way of GPA Calculation. So, just enter a rough GPA value in the university application. They will calculate based on your scores in the transcripts.

      % isn't everything just sticking it was up to academics will result in clearing competitive exams not the company job competitions.

      India is known for being stringent while checking papers, due to which you will find maximum students in a range of 60 to 75 (all 4 yrs aggregate). The BE score is normally higher. Also the distinction belt starts at 66. Try giving your exams under Pune university and let's see if you get your 95. Then I'll see if you really are worthy enough of your GPA. I'd abuse too, but that would be a waste of my energy.
      If you think that our 60 is trash, we will see how deep in the dumps you are when u study under this university, bro.

      Santosh, is Canada system is different to calculate GPA or they follow US System. Please confirm

      Our university use to have hard marking. our university topper is of 79%, and i got 66%, then i just got 6.5-6.9 cgpa......thats not impressive..

      Their grading system is already improved because they know that the Indian education system measures memorizing power and not necessarily intelligence and so 95% marks in any subject doesn't mean you have an IQ score of 140-145.
