Question: I got admission from **** University. Admission Letter from university states that I was conditionally admitted. What does it mean?..

Graduate departments can recommend a student for Conditional Admission for International Students if the prospective student doesn’t meet all Graduate College requirements.

Some reasons which leads to Conditional Admission for International Students:

1)      Most common reason is TOEFL score is less than that of required.

2)      You may not have submitted the final year transcripts or Final Degree Certificates.

3)      GRE score may not be up to the mark.

4)      GPA is less than the required.

5)      Undergrad Curriculum doesn’t have the required subjects of your Major.

Does it mean I got admission?

Yes, you got admission. Conditional Admission is a promise of admission. 

How to get rid of Conditional admission and attain a Full Admission?

1)      Enroll for the mentioned English course at the university. Some universities will conduct a English test once you join the university. If you qualify in that test you don’t need to take the English course.

2)      Submit the undergrad (BE/B.tech etc) certificates.

3)      Perform well in the first semester at the university. Maintain the Grades ob B or above B.

4)      Need to take the pre-requisite courses give by your advisor, if your undergrad curriculum doesn’t have the required subjects of your major.
